Loss
Milton was lost on January 5, 1957 when his plane crashed shortly after launching from USS Bon Homme Richard off the coast of Japan. He was a member of Fighter Squadron (VF) 211, based at Moffett Field, California.

Lt. Lucas, a former Sun-Telegraph carrier, would have ended his tour of duty Feb. 2.
Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley C. Lucas of Homestead Park; four brothers, Edward, Charleston, W. Va.; Stanley, Bethel Borough; Russell, Silver Springs, Md., and Charles, Homestead Park, and one sister, Laverne, of Lincoln Place.
A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Teresa’s Church, Homestead Park.

Known as “Luke,” he graduated from Munhall High School in 1948. “One of our reasons for a successful Football Team; husky and good-looking; nice personality; always smiling; Wrestling Team; plans to attend college.”
In the 1949 Wyoming Seminary yearbook, “Luke’s” popularity and his ability as a football player are shown by the fact that he is co-captain elect of next year’s ‘Varsity eleven. His ambition is to enter Annapolis, where he will prepare for a career in the Navy. His showing at Seminary is an indication that he will attain his goal with distinction. Independent 5; ‘Varsity Football 5; ‘Varsity Wrestling; Senior Prom Committee 5.
On March 20, 1954, he married Marjorie Homan at St. Paul’s Cathedral Parish House with reception at the Highland Country Club. His brother Russell was best man; his other brothers were ushers. They made their home in Pensacola where he would be taking Naval flight training.
He has a memory marker in Arlington National Cemetery.
