Ebenezer died of typhoid fever on February 2, 1853 in Sonora, California. He was 30 years old and was not married, according to his death certificate. His parents were William and Sophia.

He was born in Pittsburgh and appointed to the Naval Academy from Pennsylvania. He is apparently buried in California, though it's unknown where.

Midshipman, 17 September, 1841. Passed Midshipman, 10 August, 1847. Died 2 February, 1853.
